The dashboard proactively highlights when theme updates are available, providing a list of the specific themes that can be updated. This is great - and useful - but the next steps could be improved.
Scenario: Dashboard identifies that three themes have updates available.
Current approach:
- Dashboard lists three available updates.
- Click a link to open first themes page
- Click upgrade on that theme.
- Navigate back to Dashboard to remember the next theme.
- Click “Refresh” to update the list.
- Click the second themes link to open that theme’s page.
- Update the second theme.
- Navigate back to Dashboard to remember the next theme.
- Click “Refresh” to update the list.
- Click the third theme link
- Update the third theme.
Suggested approach:
- Dashboard lists three available updates.
- Click “Update all” button on Dashboard.
Notes:
- An update button could appear beside individual themes listed on the Dashboard too.
- The theme page could display a notification marker (!) next to the themes needing updates, in the theme title list for easy identification. Currently opening the Dashboard shows needed updates, but the top level of the themes page doesn’t.
- A system generated flag and notification count bubble could appear for administrators when an update first becomes available for a theme.
