Yes, I was clear on that. In fact, it’s a third thing about the platform that’s less than ideal for our concept (the ability to categorize posts in top-level buckets of the hierarchy). Given the way Discourse works, it seems that an arrangement like this might suit us better:
Honestly the first thing I thought of after reading your last post was that you were looking for category groupings. That looks like a solid workaround, to me.
Devil’s advocate:
Are you designing for the way people use your community, or how you think they will?
In my experience, people either come to a community and immediately search for what they need, or they post based on the CTA that brought them in (a “post here” email etc).
Rather than presenting people with choices/categories, presenting them with social proof might be a better driver for engagement.
