Redirect to topic on first login?

Is there currently a way to load a specific topic for a user on their first ever login to a Discourse site, but goes to standard homepage on every subsequent login?

I don’t think there’s currently a way to do this without some custom work.

For ‘things in a similar area’ that could maybe give inspiration, there’s the invite links which can have the ‘Arrive at topic’ option set, and there’s also the Redirect users to top page admin setting:

Automatically redirect new and long absent users to the top page. Only applies when ‘top’ is present in the ‘top menu’ site setting.

Hmm, is there a way to force a page of my choosing to be the "top page’?

Not by default but doable in a plugin.

Redirect to subscription page

I would try to use the Custom Homepage for Groups theme component. You can set the subscription page as the default homepage and configure a different homepage, like the latest, for the subscribers group.
