In a forum I moderate for, a moderator was removed several months ago but they still have the moderator flair icon next to their avatar, and neither me (a moderator) nor a Forum admin can figure out how to actually remove this flair from them.
Our forum is currently on 3.6.0.beta2-latest and was just updated today to that, and the flair still remains.
You can impersonate the user and remove the flair. IIRC when a user leaves a group that has a flair, the flair stays. I believe it can be removed in the user preferences.
Hello, we managed to isolate the cause and fix it a few days ago.
The former moderator was not a member of any flared group. What we had to do was add them to another group with a flair, then from their profile preferences ( /u/USERNAME/preferences/account), change the Flair to “none” and then we removed them from the group.
Seems like a general bug where if you are removed from a group with a flair equipped, the flair stays despite not being a member.
@Joshua8600,
Thanks for reporting this bug and explaining how you were able to remove the lingering Moderator flair.
I took the liberty of editing your solution to simplify it slightly - you can navigate to the user’s account preferences page as Admin and select none for the user flair without having to impersonate the user, so it’s a little less invasive as a solution that way.
I’ve also been able to repro the issue and your solution and we’ll look into getting it resolved.
