Reply-button will do a redirect

Announcements and similar posts should not be for free conversations. But because discussion is needed, all replys should happen somewhere else. Now we have three tools for that:

  • close that topic and offer a link to related discussion
  • move posts, manually by moderators
  • trust on users that they start new topics when needed

But reality, somekind, is that any of those options are not good. Users don’t click links and move on, moderators have something more important to do than such low level things (like participate in topics) and users… well… no :smirk:

If reply button would redirect, perhaps in the meaning it will reply to wanted topic, then all those three points would be solved out. Right?

The best solution, I think, is a more obvious reply-as-linked-topic button. I think you can add one with a theme component.
