Was thinking, wouldn’t it be great to introduce a feature, similar to LinkedIn, where users can update their profile picture directly by clicking on the round frame, triggering a seamless pop-up? The current process feels slightly cumbersome with extra steps. Implementing this feature would not only streamline the workflow but also significantly elevate the overall profile page experience.
So instead of opening the user card, it opens up the modal to change your avatar?
Don has a theme component for something like this.
I mean, when you go to your profile page, instead of seeing ‘Settings’ and then ‘Account,’ it would be great if you could just tap on your image to change the picture.
As in, the one right at the top of the page, above the Expand button?
Yes! Would love for it to be easier for members to change their pic!!
Yes, exactly right there.
i just remembered that Don’s excellent compose center component also makes this easier.
It seems like @Don has already built all the components I would ever need, so from now on, I’ll stalk his work before posting. Also, thanks @Lilly for sharing :))
I totally forgot that, even though I use it too.
But still — it isn’t the most obvious way to change a profile image using the writing route. That was one strong point for me to start using the compose center, though. I thought it might be an easy way to make the reply button fear fade away when a new user uses it to change their avatar. And then I forgot to tell users about that option
If I remember correctly we use the route there because the avatar selector modal is restricted to preferences/account
route. but I will check it again.
Save your time. I don’t know that is such big deal — unless you have plans to give direct access via clicking a profile picture.
Plus I just documented that option for my users, and I’m already lagging behind that job, mainly because your components have changed playground so much
