Still not receiving email notifications

I don’t know if our AssociationSphere is live yet (our website is, though), but several of our staff have been testing our AssociationSphere forum. We set our email preferences, both in Discourse, and also directly in our own forum, to receive notifications every time there is a new post or we are mentioned or tagged. Still, none of us are receiving emails. Is this because our website is live, but our AssociationSphere is maybe not “live” yet? Not sure what is going on.

First, I would check the logs to see if there are any entries explaining why the email wasn’t sent. You can find them at YOURFORUM/admin/email-logs/skipped.

This feels like an issue with the email configuration on the forum. Do you know if your forum is hosted by Discourse, the company? If yes, we can help troubleshoot fairly easily.

If no… you need to see if email has been configured properly on your Discourse instance.

I just tried that and got a message that the page doesn’t exist or is private.

Sorry, I assumed you were an admin of the forum. You need to be an admin of the forum to check the logs.

I think it’s hosted by Discourse but I’m not sure – we are brand new to all of this. We are customers of AssociationSphere but they keep referring us to the Discourse forum for support… the loging screen does say Discourse, I believe.

I am an admin. Maybe I was in the front end… let me try the back end.

sounds like you are wanting mailing list functionality. have you seen these Admin settings yet:

edit: nevermind, i thought you were an admin

The fact that there is a separate link for admins seems very unusual to me. I’m not sure if the installation is a standard install.

Yes, I am an admin – sorry if that was unclear.

Is AssociationSphere the same as Discourse? I’m confused…

Where can I find the screen below? I am signed into the back end of AssociationSphere but don’t see anything under our account settings like this.

Looking at the support page Moin linked, it seems that AssociationSphere allows you to create your own Discourse instance such as https://businessprofessionalsassociation.associationsphere.network

From that page:

Please go to https://meta.discourse.org/ for further support on the Forum.

So it’s clear, our company is Civilized Discourse Construction Kit and we develop the Discourse open source software that AssociationSphere hosts for you.

On meta, we or other community members can help you with specific questions about how Discourse works, guidance on settings, or help with problems encountered with standard installs, but we cannot provide any technical help or understanding for how AssociationSphere has configured your forum.

We have literally no access to their systems, nor any idea about what they’ve done.

Once you can get into the admin interface for your forum, wherever it is, we can help you understand if you have any questions.
