URL ending in .png is not actually an image

Pasting “” into the editor
(which is not an image, but a URL)
results in:

not:
/
(I added a “/”)

Not sure if other forums would have the same problem with that type of url…they aren’t that common I suppose.

Or prefix it with a space

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Chromium_incognito_otr_icon_fullscreen.png

This is just too hard to fix and too much of an edge case imo.

A minute later “system” user automatically edits the post and makes it even more unreadable, so at least you’re notified that your link was bad I suppose.

The prefix with a space trick works for all automatically converted images or links I see. Didn’t know that…

There is something wrong with that URL, it is not in fact an image.

So you could make the same argument about any URL ending in an image file type that is something else… Not a bug.
