This is the second recent upgrade that has resulted in issues, and it appears that it is not easy to get on a more stable release without timing it properly with the other branches.
The major releases (aka stable) are usually slotted in for around the end of January and the end of July each year. So if you do want to switch tracks your next opportunity would be in a couple of months.
Though generally the default tests-passed is reasonably stable and any significant issues that crop up are normally fixed pretty rapidly. It is unfortunate that you’ve been bit twice in a few weeks, but hopefully this isn’t something that becomes a pattern for you.
