There’s an asymmetry in how posts from an Ignored user are handled.
All posts by an Ignored user are hidden from view.
Posts which are Replies have a button, “VIEW 1 HIDDEN REPLY”, which can reveal the text.
Posts which are Topics – that is, opening posts – have no such button and cannot be revealed.
I’ve been asked about this inconsistency many times over in a Discourse forum where I’m an Admin.
I’m unable to find an explanation for it. Is there a technical complexity that gets in the way of making this text revealable? Was there some sort of design decision that led to this as an intentional choice? Or is it simply not something that has been considered and asked for?
Am trying to learn the “why” before putting in a feature request, since this may simply be a bug, or there may be some solid reason for it I’m not realizing.
