I’ve just started sending out private messages to some of our users.
When I followed a notification to a reply just now, the rounded-corner boxes immediately cued (reminded) me that this was not a normal, public thread.

That was indeed a very welcome addition.
It looked somewhat vain at my eyes first, but after using public and direct messages for a while, I changed my mind; this visual distinction is the kind of detail that helps building an elegant platform.
