Watching PM function not triggering notifications

When I review a PM of two users where an admin isn’t invited/tagged, switching to “Watching” does nothing when there are new replies made to the topic. The setting says “You will be notified of every new reply in this message”, but it doesn’t. Tried multiple times, even in safe mode with everything disabled. If this option is obsolete now, why keep this setting?

I remember this worked a few versions ago without the need of being invited/tagged, so was this an intentional change?

SO, yes, if you are not invited you can’t be notified.

Didn’t realize this was related to the @tagging I’ve mentioned in the other post you’ve linked. So I guess it would make sense to disable that option in the pull down menu and it should appear only when tagged/invited, no?
