Wiki Testpage

In this category because I can not put it into the Wiki category.

Why is the wiki read-only?

This page is for trying you the wiki feature.

E.g. how to make link from one wiki page to another wiki page?

(post deleted by author)

This is post is not a wiki page itself because I can not find the menu item to change a post into a wiki page. Where is that menu item?

(post deleted by author)

That menu item is only available for users with trust level 3.

Here in the linked page it says it’s TL2. By the way, I just earned “Editor”. But not Wiki-Editor.

This is confusing.

Editing wiki posts is TL2, so posts that are already a wiki can be edited by everyone with at least that trust level.

Converting your own post into a wiki post so others can edit it requires TL3.

There is one badge for editing your own post and a different one for editing a wiki post. You edited your post so you received the former

“Read only” is maybe a bit misleading. Actually, you can reply to topics within the category, but you don’t have the permission to create new topics. As the description says, you need trust level 2 to post in that category.

If you urgently need to share documentation that you have written, you could post it in another category like General and flag it to ask the moderators to move it.

I’m part of a group who is looking for a community wiki and some of us are here to try out Discourse as a Wiki, and forum taken for granted. The trust levels make it hard to try out the wiki features which doesn’t help getting a good impression.

The trust levels should not be so hidden, in a blog post elsewhere.

This forum is not for testing. You can use try.discourse.org for that or sign up for a 14-day free Discourse trial on discourse.org

A post was split to a new topic: Welcome PM links to blog post, when discobot tutorial not enabled

This isn’t a forum to make meaningless posts to see if Discourse works, but How can I make a post Wiki? - discourse - Discourse Demo is

I have suggested that too.

Hi Frank!

Great that you are evaluating Discourse for hosting your wiki. But yes, as your fellow community membbers have pointed, this is not the place for testing. You can test to your heart’s content at try.discourse.org or you can spin up a free trial on our hosting.

I have unlisted this topic and set a timer for deletion.

I will pull this out into a new topic for further discussion. Thanks for pointing it out!
