In a discussion titled “Where are the pinned topics?” under Site feedback, Moin reported that globally pinned topics — notably the welcome topic and others like the GitHub commit prefix convention thread — were no longer appearing at the top of /latest or their respective categories, despite being visibly pinned. Screenshots confirmed the issue persisted in safe mode and for unauthenticated visitors, ruling out personal unpins. ecki suggested checking for “unpinned for you” status, but Moin confirmed this didn’t apply. Later, Moin noted the welcome topic returned, but others like the GitHub convention topic remained missing. vinothkannans confirmed seeing the welcome topic pinned and manually unpinned it. Eventually, Moin concluded the issue resolved itself over time and recommended closing the thread, acknowledging the root cause was likely untraceable after 10 months. The issue appears to have been transient, affecting global and category pins inconsistently, with no clear technical explanation provided.
Do you have the mark automatically unpinned function for you, then the pinned topic will disappear only for you. Maybe check a topic directly if it has the “unpinned for you” on the bottom. (however, not sure if that applies to global pins, hm)
Today the “Welcome to Meta” topic appeared as a pinned topic for me. And it didn’t unpin automatically when I reached the bottom. So I manually changed it.
