How to Add Georgian Language Support to the Admin Panel?

hello everyone

I would like to add Georgian (ქართული) language support to the admin panel’s site text. However, I’m not sure how to properly implement it. Could anyone guide me on how to modify the language settings or request the addition of Georgian as an option?

If there’s a way to contribute translations or customize the text manually, I’d appreciate any help or documentation links.

Thanks in advance!

Georgian is not currently a supported language in Discourse.

If you would like to contribute language support for a new or unsupported language, you can do so via the Discourse Crowdin workspace at translate.discourse.org.

For reference, here is a link to the current progress of the Georgian Language Translations.

Once a significant portion is translated (around 50%+), you can request for the language to be included in the official Discourse release.

We also have a guide on Contributing translations to Discourse that you can follow that has more information about this process.

In the meantime, if you want to customize the language on your site to a different language, the default_locale site setting can be used to change the default language on your site.

While Georgian support is being added, you could manually customize your site text by going to Admin → Appearance → Site Texts. Our Customize text in Discourse guide has more information on customizing site text.

Additionally, if you need volunteers or help with Georgian translations, you might discuss this with the Discourse community under Dev > Translations or share externally to find contributors.

Wow, that’s a lot. Why was it increased from 50% to more than 80%?

Ahh, that should actually say 50%, the acceptance percentage has not been changed. Thanks for catching that @Moin :slightly_smiling_face:
