I just updated to 2.8.1, and now all the topics are entirely blank.
I tried rebooting, but that did not help, so I guess I’ll try a rebuild.
OK, so a rebuild fixed it.
Kind of ironic that for 2.8 I carefully snapshotted the entire machine for a very careful upgrade, and this minor upgrade I just assumed would work, and that was the one that caused problems.
