Had a much needed laugh

Might have wrong category.

I was over at the other place today after hearing about the latest shutdown stuff. I was pleasantly surprised and pleased to see @Discourse pop into my feed.

The part the made me laugh is the reference to style of conversation that makes Discourse, well, Discourse on a place that is not so much civil and meaningful. Quite the paradox.

“…easy to have meaningful conversations…”. This is what brought me to discourse and this community, plus the software, is why I am still here.

BTW: Very glad to see @discourse.org on Bluesky

Sorry, could you elaborate on this?

I may have understood it wrongly, sorry, but could you explain this part? Thanks.

Sure, probably could have been ls cryptic, sorry. The other place is twitter which has become a cesspool of not so healthy stuff putting it nicely. I left twitter for bluesky and found a civil and invigorating place to hang much like the old twitter. I was angry to hear of the jeopardy many folks, especially the very rich guy, are willing to put the US in so I returned to see what was going on. And to be honest, I was up for a bit of shameful angst based trolling.

See the @discourse popup in the twitter feed with a refernce to meaningful conversation was the paradox I found amusing. meaningful conversation on twitter, that does not happen so much these days.

Hope that helps.

Wish there was an Off-topic category. I feel a bit uncomfortable with a conversation that borders the politics realm.
