Provide a way to access tracked/watched topics (outside search)

The ability to track topics is one of my favourite features in Discourse, but
right now there seems to be no way to access your tracked/watched topics once you read the updates to them (I hope I didn’t miss anything here, but the only thing I found was this older feature request, which mixes two requests in one topic).

The use case for this is that I often read the updates to tracked topics, but I don’t have time to write a reply immediately. And when I come back later to do so, I have to dig up the topic either manually or via search. I think it would be quite convenient to have access to the list of tracked topics right away, without resorting to search.

I was thinking that this actually could go just before Unread in the navigation header of the main content (see screenshot with annotation below). However, accessing it via the user menu would probably be fine, too.

What about using bookmarks? Seems like the ideal feature for this.

Yes, that’s possible, but adding a bookmark, then replying, then removing the bookmark again is a lot less convenient than having direct access to the tracked threads. And I suspect keeping the bookmark in addition to tracking would not only still be double effort, but also clutter the bookmark list quickly.

In addition, but that might be a “me problem”, my mental model of bookmarks is that they are for permanent/long-term access to relevant information (e.g. documentation threads here on Meta), while the tracking state is more ephemeral.

You can filter the topic list by state. For example: https://meta.discourse.org/?state=tracking

Here, you could add that to a custom section in your sidebar.
When you are an admin, you could use Custom Top Navigation Links to add the link to the navigation at the top.

Thanks! I wasn’t aware of that theme component.
I still think this would be a useful addition for Discourse in general, but for my own community, that might do it in the meantime.
