Allow normal users to bulk update notification level

It appears that if someone is an Administrator (and likely a Moderator?) they can click on the little icon to the left of the word “Topic” on a category page to enter into a sort of bulk update mode where you can select multiple topics and make some change to a lot of them at once. Most of these changes are moderator abilities like deleting topics, moving, etc, however some of them are things that normal users can do (and in particular, setting the notification level).

It would be great to allow regular users to be able to access this menu in order to take a bunch of topics and change their notification level at once.

Just wanted to bump this up: my community is currently trying to start using tags more and it would be great if TL4 (or maybe even TL3) users could add tags in bulk to search results, as we have quite a bunch of active TL4 users and we do not want to have so many moderators… It is not a big deal, really, but if it happens to be easy to do, it would be great!

This was my topic that brought me here.

I believe there is a case to be made to allow TL1-TL3 the option to bulk change notifications.

In our situation, a user had set a category to Tracking but later changed it to Normal.

Obviously, all new topics would inherit those settings but this user wanted to also change all previously read topics in the category to Normal.

As far as I can tell, this can only be done manually right now.

I’m guessing there is no real interest here?

No worries, users will have to manually update their notifications.
