Always open the first post of the topic?

Hi, I would like to make discourse open the first post always instead of the last read post, is that possible?

No, this is not possible. You can do this if you open links in anonymous mode in the browser, or if you never log in.

Just to clarify, you can enter a topic at the top by clicking or tapping on the number of replies.

Clicking or tapping on…

  • the topic title → enters at last read position

  • the number of replies → pops up a date selector so you can enter at top or bottom.

  • the last reply date → enters at the bottom

Would like your feedback and of course the functionality I mentioned above!

Digging up this one

Is there any way via a theme component to enable such feature?
We have really long discussions where all beginners can ask questions. Before they ask a new one, we want them to redirect to the FAQ in the topic to avoid recurring questions.

You’re in luck, there is a new option on each category to enable this:

Actually my intention was to navigate to first post even when unread posts are available. Only the dot next to the topic title navigates to the first unread post.
