Archiving topics marking them as "unread"

Hello!

I’ve searched both in the Discourse admin tools and on this forum, but couldn’t find an obvious answer - apologies if this is something very simple!

One of our Discourse Leader users wanted to archive a large number (hundreds) of old topics. After doing so, they realised every archived topic had been tagged as “Unread” for all users. We think this was due to the automated system post of “Archived on [date]”.

To avoid this in future, is there any setting to disable these automatic system posts, or to avoid the system post notifying all users of an unread message?

Update in case anyone else is experiencing this (Discourse support helped me out :slight_smile:) :

We discovered the notifications weren’t actually due to the automatic system posts, but instead due to the topics also being moved to a new category by the Leader user.

We’ve now checked the disable_category_edit_notifications setting for our site, which we believe has resolved the issue.
