At the moment if you go to /new or /unread as a user you’ll have the choice to bulk select topics you want to dismiss as seen by image 1.

However, if you select bulk actions and then go back to the homepage the checkboxes are still visible and there isn’t a way for you to hide them again without refreshing the page.

This is a pretty old one. 
Can you repro this on meta? Here I still see the bulk selection icon when I go back to the homepage or /latest, and if I click it, it toggles the checkboxes away.
With staff account it isn’t an issue because the toggle button is there. But regular user has not the toggle button on these pages. 
So the only way to disable it is go back to /new, / unread page and toggle off there.
