Continuing the discussion from Weekly or monthly "best new user" badge:
We’re just having another look at the new user of the month feature, which has been working out great in our community. We love it.
Two questions emerging from my investigations:
- does the new user of the month count include personal messages?
- are staff (moderators and admins) eligible?
If the answer to these questions is currently “YES” then I would suggest that the feature be changed so it becomes “NO”. It makes no sense for activity in private to be included in the count, especially interactions with discobot or staff with new members. Also, if a new staff member is brought on board and given moderator privs, that member should not be awarded the badge in the place of another member who can use the encouragement more.
