Great point below by @mcwumbly on using Slack with Discourse. Both that and @erlend_sh blog post have been extremely useful for my communication strategy development.

Ty for this post @erlend_sh ! Super informative! And giving some answer to questions i had from a long time.
In our small group we increased the use of whatsapp and as a result Vbullettin forum post collapsed.
Having moved on mobile people feel more easy and immediate to use WA.
I’ve set up a Discourse forum which is much more mobile friendly to counter this trend.
But chat is still very active and forum is quieter than i would like… (Users are still getting used to the new platform so i need more time to see the final effect!)
I would like to know if there are some suggested way to integrate forum and chat.
I see many plugins for chat platforms (not whatsapp) but it seems to me they are meant to push important thread from the forum to the chat to highlight them more.
I wanted to know if there is something to get part or all the chat and import it in the forum.
i agree that chat and forum are different mediums but i think it’s worth to integrate them better!

Ho apprezzato moltissimo questo post. In particolare, avresti un riferimento (articolo scientifico, notizia) che possa aiutarmi a supportare questa citazione? Sto cercando di sostenere l’argomento che la mia comunità [scientifica] abbia bisogno di qualcosa come Discourse e di smettere di affidarsi esclusivamente alle chat.
Forse questo potrebbe essere un riferimento?
Ma è un libro lungo! Speravo in riferimenti più brevi…

In questo articolo continuano a dire che Discourse non è adatto per la comunicazione in tempo reale, ovvero i thread di chat.
È davvero così?
- Discourse gestisce argomenti vasti con oltre 100.000 messaggi
- Discourse ha la funzionalità “l’utente sta scrivendo…” che fa sentire tutti come se fosse una “comunicazione in tempo reale”, proprio come una chat
- Si può semplicemente creare una categoria “Chat” e un argomento per ogni chat
Quindi, in un certo senso, Slack è un sottoinsieme di Discourse.
Tuttavia, utilizzando Discourse per chat in tempo reale, si beneficerebbe di una stretta integrazione con le discussioni threadate e la knowledge base se sono ospitate su Discourse.
Sto dimenticando qualcosa?
P.S. A mio avviso, l’unica cosa che manca a Discourse quando si tratta di chat in tempo reale è la “vista compatta”, poiché le chat spesso consistono in messaggi brevi ma molto numerosi.

Bene, nelle prossime release porteremo una funzionalità di chat in Discourse. È qualcosa su cui stiamo lavorando in questo momento. Crediamo che Discourse possa colmare da solo il divario tra la memoria a breve termine (chat) e quella a lungo termine (paragrafi/argomenti)!

Ti suggerisco di creare un nuovo argomento #feature. Tuttavia, potresti voler aspettare fino al rilascio iniziale: non voglio che tu perda tempo a scrivere grandi idee solo per scoprire che le abbiamo già incluse o che non funzioneranno con il modo in cui la chat è configurata in Discourse.
