The site setting enable emoji shortcuts doesn’t seem to work on 34a83fe1c8 in chat, :/, :), :D, etc will still change to their emoji variants with it off.

I can’t reproduce it. I tried both the latest and this commit. 
Strange, did you try in chat? Perhaps it’s specifically a chat issue.
EDIT: Just tried, that seems to be it, strange.
You’re right; it has no effect. I need to read the title next time. I missed the “chat” part.
