First-login home page

I’ve been wondering whether there’s a way to set a first-login home page to force a user to choose main interests, which would then show the user only some tags or categories (or make them prioritary), like Pinterest and Flipboard do. It could work for different language users too.

I believe this is possible through groups, but don’t know how to set it up.

Also, it’s different from setting a specific page as homepage for each group. Everyone would still have Latest as their homepage, for example.

Thanks

P.S.: This similar post from another person never got answered.

You can have a look at Discourse Meta - The Official Support Forum for Discourse to see the built-in way to do that.

It’s also possible to make some categories available only to members of certain groups and then allow users to join those groups. See Understanding groups and category permissions

If you’d like a custom form that did that, it would take a custom theme component.

This is in line with what I have been suggesting here:

Let users curate their community experience. Every community grows. Otherwise everything from the menu to the obfuscated “tracking settings” are weird, disparate experiences.
