How to best manage subcategories 'burying' parent category topics

Hi all, we have a forum for our BookBrowse Community, and as part of that we host book club discussions, so we’ve set up a subcategory for each discussion under our Book Club Category here: Book Clubs - BookBrowse Community Forum

I like the layout of having the subcategories and 3 topics at the top of the category, however that means that any topics posted in the parent Book Cllubs category like this one are relatively hidden on main category view, and are also less likely to appear on the home page layout: https://community.bookbrowse.com/

The solutions I’ve come up with:

  1. Create a ‘Book Clubs General’ subcategory and disable posting within the parent category, so that the topics that would ordinarily be at the parent category level are on an equal footing with the subcategory topics.

  2. (I’m leaning toward this one) - automatically bumping topics in the parent category on a daily basis. These are typically evergreen topics.

I know I could also play around with the category and homepage layouts but I’m happy with these layouts with the exception of this issue. Please let me know if you have any other advice or solutions, thanks in advance!
