I have established my own discourse forum and the default homepage is hot topics page. I want to show latest topics or categories on homepage. It might be a naive questions but I have searched a lot and did not find the configuration. Can it be changed?
This isn’t obvious, so it’s not surprising you’re confused. The setting you are looking for is top menu and it happens that the first item listed becomes the site home page.

I also found that it can be changed in preferences/interface by every users.
Re-run the setup wizard. Check your documentation.
