How to tell if discourse is installed correctly

Hi guys,

I am installing discourse on the oracle free vps, I have tried multiple times, but I got the following message every single time.

I can’t tell if discourse is installed correctly. Looks like the message is repeating itself and I am not able to access the discourse via url.

And I do see the container running

Any help is greatly appreciated.

That seems like it’s unfinished, how long are you waiting when it gets there?

The first time I waited for almost an hour, the last time I waited over 20 minutes afte. It’s 1AM here right now, I will try again tomorrow and see what happened.

How much RAM and swap does your site have? It might not be enough.

1GB of Ram, I believe the discourse auto created 2GB of swap during the installation, but will double check later.

I think someone said you’ll need more swap than that, perhaps try 4GB?

The container is still building. When it’s started the container name will be “app”. Yours is still a random named used to build the container.

Builds take a very long time now.

I see, I wasn’t expecting it to take over an hour. But now I know.

I’m running the installation now, will report back.

I am running the installation now, if it doesn’t work, I will try again with 4GB swap. Thanks

It’s not what I world expect either, but you have a underpowered cpu and not much ram. Discourse takes a lot more ram to build than it once did. One gb really isn’t enough.

I would go ahead and add more swap.

After many tries, I finally have a test box running.

For my production server, I will aim for 2 CPU, 2GB Ram with 4GB swap.

Thank you so much
