Great work! I love tags, and I’d just like to repeat some of my suggestions:
- Ability to require a tag per section (as stated in the blog this is coming!)
- Ability to add info per tag, such as a short description and a link (this would show on mouse over, as well as on the tag view page)
These would be nice to have:
- A redesigned tags homepage (currently very unappealing, would like to see it more useful/informative like the categories homepage)
- Ability to give tags different colours (not as important but could be nice for some communities)
With this in place I can see tags becoming a huge part of how people use Discourse

+1 this - the company I work for is a stockbroker and we collect requests from users for stocks that they want us to offer. There’s groups of stocks that we can’t add at the moment, for a particular reason. Tagging would enable us to highlight the fact that a stock is part of that group & explain in a short message / link to a topic explaining why we can’t add the stocks yet.

Do I understand this to mean that the functionality of tagging as described in the @HAWK post is not available to users accessing via mobile. In particular, how would this resolve in the scenario where we were requiring all posters to assign a tag to the post for the purposes of “categorisation”?

Tagging is fully supported on mobile today. It wasn’t at the time of Steve’s post.

@codinghorror hai una raccomandazione per categorie vs. tag vs. gruppi specifici per contenuti basati sulla posizione?
Per il mio caso d’uso, ho una community di operatori radioamatoriali (https://community.americanradioclub.com). La posizione è molto importante per molte ragioni, ma alcune principali sono che 1) possono effettivamente stabilire un contatto radioamatoriale con utenti vicini e 2) organizzare incontri locali 3) discutere di ripetitori locali, esercitazioni di comunicazione di emergenza, ecc.
Vorrei iscrivere automaticamente gli utenti agli aggiornamenti per il loro stato/regione, utilizzare l’API per inserire gli aggiornamenti per il loro stato/regione nella loro dashboard di WordPress, e anche consentire loro di pubblicare eventi e argomenti di discussione per la loro regione.
Esiste un approccio raccomandato per utilizzare la posizione in questo modo?
Attualmente sto pensando di avere Categoria: Radio Regionale, Sottocategoria: Stato, quindi utilizzare i tag per cose come eventi, incontri, operazioni, ecc.

Connettere le persone tramite la posizione è complicato, so che @pfaffman ci ha lavorato in passato con alcuni dei suoi clienti. C’è ovviamente un supporto nativo consolidato per il campo della posizione nel profilo utente, ma il campo della posizione è completamente testo libero.
Discourse è più allineato attorno al concetto di connettere le persone attraverso interessi e argomenti condivisi, non tanto la posizione, ma la posizione può essere molto rilevante per alcune community.

Certamente interessi e argomenti sono importanti anche per i miei utenti. Molte delle piattaforme comunitarie più tradizionali offrono funzionalità integrate con utenti vicino a me ed eventi, ecc., ma userò discourse per questo con alcuni plugin e personalizzazioni.
Mi piace molto il plugin di localizzazione di pavilion (penso ora mantenuto da discourse?), lo installerò e vedrò come funziona! Penso davvero che discourse potrebbe essere la migliore piattaforma per post basati sulla posizione o persino integrarsi con la radioamatoriale in modi interessanti. Mi assicurerò di condividere se scoprirò cose interessanti.
La mia community ha anche molto da discutere riguardo antenne radioamatoriali, alimentatori, configurazioni, guide pratiche, ecc. ecc. che sono un uso più comune per discourse e non legato alla posizione. Quindi, ho intenzione di mantenere le conversazioni basate sulla posizione in una singola Categoria e utilizzare il plugin di localizzazione per taggare le posizioni lì.
