"New account registrations not allowed at this time"

We just converted our trail account to a paid, hosted subscription today.
However, as we’re testing invitations for new accounts, the user receives the following message when clicking the link provided in the Welcome e-mail:

What would cause this, and what changes do we need to make to allow new account registration?

This is the notice that is displayed when the allow new registrations Site Setting is not enabled. Enabling that setting should solve the problem.

In my house we call this “looking disease” and I apparently suffered from it this afternoon.

You can use the search box on your Settings page to find settings by name. Entering allow new registrations into the search box would return the setting for you.
