Notification by email when a post is edited

Hi

I would like to receive a notification by email when a post is edited, at least when I’m the author of the post.

What setting should I set for that, please?

I would go into email in your settings and if you were to turn on “email me when I’m quoted, replied to, my @username is mentioned” and change it to always then it should email you when your post has been edited also.

My apologies, within the post that you created you can chang the tracking settings located under the post to the left, for that post itself. which is probably the best way to get your wanted outcome.

I don’t think such a setting exists. I have read related discussions about receiving notifications about edits for moderation purposes or being notified about edits to wiki posts, but those were on-site notifications.

Then, should I fill a feature for that? Is it the process I have to follow?

If you want it soon, you will have to develop a plugin or ask someone on Marketplace.

I’m not able to do that. I need it here and 2 other places where I’m a normal user.

Interesting, even if it’s not the same thing. Thank you very much.

It seems to be only for moderators.

Do I understand correctly: You receive notifications for edits on posts in the UI, but you are not notified about these via email?

If this is the case:

Since it appears that email notifications for edits will not be enabled here on meta, it wouldn’t help you if some plugin offered this ability.

You could write some tooling on your side that informs you about unread notifications.

Maybe a feature request for “notification on unread notifications via email” could succeed, as this would send a maximum of one email per day or week.

In general:

What problem are you trying to solve?
You could agree with your community that relevant changes to posts will be announced in the thread.

Yes
(Edits on my posts, it doesn’t happen so frequently.)

Except if it’s an Official Plugin (like solved).
(Do you think they would never accept that?)

I don’t know how to do that.

Thank you. Maybe I could suggest both in the same request, so they have choice?

But I’m not sure that’s really what I want, because I don’t want to receive notifications via email for received likes or new badges.

When I was TL1, the tag of my topic was replaced.
I come here only when I need it, not each day.
Fortunately, I saw it in time, so I was able to ask why, then change the title because it was a misunderstanding on my part. But it was close!

I don’t think this is applicable to my case.

I would suggest a less demanding feature request:

Remind me about not read edit notifications to my posts by email

I come here only when I need it, not each day.
I would like to be actively notified about changes to my posts, to be able to clarify misunderstandings.

You can track (seldom visited) discourse sites via discourse-hub.
It will not actively notify you on edit notifications, but it will show them to you.

Do you mean that if I don’t precise “to my posts”, they will think I’m a moderator who wants to be notified about any post edit?

If you want email notifications on edits, that would be one email per edit.
If you want email notifications for not read edit notifications, that would be one summarizing email per (a configurable) time period, if there are new edits to your posts.
