Can the description topics be pinned to the top by default ? - I’ve noticed that once I’ve visited a category - if I fail to pin it myself it disappears never to be found again. I’d really like it to be pinned so my users can see it.

You can change the ‘automatically unpin topics’ option in the admin settings. That will stop them being automatically unpinned when users reach the bottom.
It will be for all pinned topics, rather than just the ‘About’ ones, and a user can still manually unpin each topic for themselves using the options at the bottom of the topic (as well as the little drawing pin toggle by the title in the topic list view).
