Returning to pinned topic

I have a topic that is pinned, with about 100 messages. It seems like every time I go back to the topic, I return to the top, instead of to the last read message (which in my case is the last message). Other members of my community say they go back to the middle of the topic, for reasons that are unclear.

Is there any behavior where pinned topics behave different than other topics, when members return to the topic?

If not, is this something that I should somehow “reset” or something on my Discourse?

Is this happening always or maybe they haven’t read the whole topic?

No, I asked them specifically to scroll all the way to the bottom, and then leave and come back. The same thing happens for me-- I know for sure I’ve seen every message and I’ve scrolled up and down many times in this topic. But I seem to always come back to message 1. Odd.
