Topic with unreal number of clicks in the "Top Referred Topics"

I have in my forum an unreal number for the most clicked topic in a month. Is there a way to know where this clicks are coming from ?? Because It was an odd jump in numbers and we wanted to make sure there wasn’t a glitch or something we missed. For example, the topics average clicks per month are 2k and we got one topic with 20k.

Any thoughts? or any situations like this where a topic get thousands of clicks or the click counter increase without reasons? or any bug reported, I have been checking Meta forum but I didn’t find anything.

Hi @bayardo.rivas! I guess nobody had any ideas about why your forum got a jump in Top Referred Topics. Sorry about that! This is external sources, so I assume your forum is public and these are just hits coming from bots. Or maybe a topic was shared on social media and got alot of attention? I don’t think it’s a concern.

Was there any change since last year, or why are you bringing it up again now?

hey @tobiaseigen , thank you for your time.

The problem is that I found some other cases with this kind of spikes in different months including this year. The numbers are ridiculous because our forum is private, and we get SSO from other application, so only authenticated users in our application can access to the forum, I don’t think that are a bots is doing that.

The other situation that is weird is that spikes happens in a period between of 1-3 days without any “special” topic, and in some cases we have spikes where the number is so high that it would be necessary that all our registered users click on the same specific topic for at least seven times.

Since we use SSO, our sources domain is identified but it’s impossible that this number of clicks come from there.
