Could someone point me in the right direction. We’d like to extend the Like function so that users can like profiles as well as posts. The idea is it starts conversation is a users doesn’t initially engage and participate in the forum. They may like another users profile who in turn would open a conversation via a pm.

This would be a pretty involved change, expect 2-4 weeks or work to get this working just right for an experienced Discourse dev.
Not exactly a “Like” button, but the Follow Plugin 👨 allows users to Follow each other, which may have the same desired effect of demonstrating interest.
