Ways to add knowledge to my persona

I would mind using your help. I’ve set a persona in my forum and fed him with lots of manuals and guides for customer support. It is almost working GREAT. But it is not reading the topics within the forum to use for answers as well. How can I enable that feature?
Also, how do I teach him new things? Is it only by uploading new documents on the RAG? Or can I just reply/teach him on the go?

Sorry, I know these are very basic queries, I’m newbie and learning from below scratch

You need to add both search and read tools to your persona, and instruct your persona to do those actions in your system prompt.

LLMs you are using don’t learn. Your options to add information are:

  • directly on the system prompt

  • in posts on your forum and use the search / read tools

  • via uploaded files with our built-in RAG feature

  • via external sites / APIs using a custom made tool that reaches to the internet

Don’t worry, when it comes to AI we are all still learning

Thank you sooooooo much @Falco, this is so helpful.
Do you think I could add an AI-teaching post on the “Staff” category, so it won’t be visible for the regular users, yet the persona can take that income and modify it’s answers??

Nope. By default, a persona can only read what is publicly accessible, so that won’t work.

You’d have to add this to a category that Everyone can read but only Staff can write / reply.

ohhh, that’s a shame :sob:

I was trying to create a new category accesible to few members, including the persona, but not visible to “everyone”, and indeed the bot doesn’t seem to be able to read from there…
I don’t want my customers to be able to see this “backstage” info, perhaps this could be a good addition for the future…

Yeah, this is tricky to get right. As if the persona can read, and users have access to the persona, it only takes time for a user to ask the persona to transcribe everything that is in those docs, making those indirectly public right ?

Mmmmm, correct, AI is way smarter than I am

Actually it works now!

After enabling the Search and Read tools, click on “Show Tool Details” in there, one can enable the Search Private and Read Private.

This means, now our AI assistant can directly read the knowledge database we are preparing, without the need to continually update the docs on the RAG, and this info is hidden for standard users.

Found the final piece of the puzzle on this post: Can I allow the bot on private categories

You could unlist those topics
