Hi, a little curiosity, until now I didn’t have a problem with whispers. I just created one this morning on a post I authored as admin, and the whisper appears in the post. However, as soon as I refresh the page, it disappears - it’s not deleted since it appears in my activity. But it does disappear from the display. Weird, is’nt it?

After testing whispers do not appear after topic cooked when the Discourse Post Voting plugin is enabled in that category.

And believe it or not, a few hours later, these whispers reappear in the thread… Magic sometimes works

And disapperead a few minutes later.

Looks like an intermittent bug

Usual questions:

• Does it happen in safe mode?

• Are there any suspicious errors in /logs or in the javascript console (from your browser’s developer tools)?

• Are the whispers hidden (via CSS), or not even present in the HTML code (you can inspect the code with the same dev tools)?

Yes

Nothing in the logs (don’t know how to use developers tools)

Adding that in a category where the post voting is not enabled, the problem does not occur. And happens on Firefox and Chrome.

Thank you @Moin for your reply here. it explains the behavior but it poses some fairly significant problems firstly, if there is only one initial message in a discussion and no reply, the whispers will never be visible even though they exist secondly, by default we are in voting mode and not by activity, so the whispers will never be visible either.

Is the resolution here to add a note to Discourse Post Voting to explain that, when post voting is enabled, whispers will not appear when ordering by votes?

A feature request for the plugin could be to make them discoverable somehow when ordering by votes.

Ja, ik begrijp dat er workarounds geïmplementeerd kunnen worden, maar dit zouden slechts tijdelijke oplossingen zijn in plaats van het aanpakken van de hoofdoorzaak van het probleem, namelijk dat Whispers verschijnen wanneer ze zouden moeten verschijnen. Zeker omdat, in mijn geval, de whispers beperkt zijn tot een bepaalde groep. Ik zou mijn leden die er niet mee te maken hebben niet willen irriteren of verwarren door ze te laten lezen.

Wacht, ik ben verward. Ik dacht dat dit onderwerp ging over het feit dat whispers helemaal niet verschijnen in de weergaven “gesorteerd op stemmen”? Anders verschijnen ze zoals verwacht, alleen voor mensen die er toegang toe hebben?

Ik weet niet wat de reden was om whispers niet te tonen in de weergave “gesorteerd op stemmen”, toen de Discourse Post Voting plugin werd geïmplementeerd. Ik denk dat het een redelijke functieaanvraag is om te vragen om deze toe te voegen.

I think the problem is that whispers easily lose context when the order of the posts is changed.

They are “disappearing” because of this sorting ability: [sort by votes or activity] When sorting by votes, it’s hard to insert small action posts in between because they tend to be better understood in chronological order (aka “Activity”). The bug now is that there is a filter that removes small action posts for both sorting methods. I will remove the filter when “Activity” is selected, which will allow the small action posts to appear. It’s probably also useful to have a site setting that…

I will remove the filter when “Activity” is selected, which will allow the small action posts to appear.

Maybe a handy fix would be to indicate in that spot how many whispers there are. Then people with access to them can click across to read them.

Ik heb dit naar UX gestuurd, omdat het een kleine functieaanvraag lijkt te zijn die de UI van het tabblad “Stemmen” van posts beïnvloedt, en de titel heb ik gewijzigd. Het is momenteel niet mogelijk om te weten dat er gefluisterd wordt totdat je naar het tabblad “Activiteit” van een post-stemonderwerp gaat. Dit veroorzaakt verwarring bij de OP.
