Would like to understand side effects of deleting build-in category

I remember after I install discourse, there are 2 default categories.
one is staff and another is general(?)

actually for some reasons I deleted the general one, will it give my site any side effects?

If don’t create new one, your users don’t see anything and can’t write anywhere. So yes, it will give major side effects — unless all of your users are staff members.

If this is a dev install, you can’t test too much proper way in role of a user.

So can I understand like, if I created some new category, it’s safe to delete the default one? (ofc I guess delete staff will be tough)

Of course. If you like, and want to start from the scratch. And deleting staff category is not tough at all.
