I’m a bit rusty on using support forums, so pardon me if this is the wrong category (I’ve gone back and forth between Feature and UX several times while drafting this).
I’m relatively active in a forum that uses the chat plugin, and occasionally there are other users that I mute temporarily during ongoing discussions (not that they’re necessarily disruptive, but to hide higher frequency posting of media and separate topics so I don’t get distracted). I recently noticed that it’s pretty inconvenient to set a user to Ignored when their public profile is hidden[1], and figured I might as well suggest adding an activity notification dropdown below the Message/Chat buttons on the User Card, given that those options still remain on hidden profiles.
it took starting this post for me to find the solution to doing that at all, since I had missed it being in user preferences at first, much obliged to this thread↩︎
Mm, yeah I can understand how it’d be preferable to be less accessible from that perspective back then.
It doesn’t bother me enough to continue chasing a solution for it at the moment (especially considering muting someone in a chat doesn’t filter incoming messages, which is a problem for the plugin rather than anything), but it would feel more consistent to me if the notification preferences were displayed now that messages are. The mute-list in Preferences is honestly really hidden for such an impactful feature (but then again, maybe other people just tend to use it much more than I would?).
