Please do not reply to this thread
The idea of this topic is NOT to debate. If you have questions, please open a related topic, so we don’t create a huge and endless thread with all the questions about how to translate “x” word, and what is convenient or not convenient.
Outdated
This topic is not updated to reflect the changes introduced by the agency that has reviewed all Spanish translations in recent months.
In general, it is outdated even before that. I will be creating a new version at the end of the topic.
Glossary
According to numerous debates, I think we could say that certain words already have an accepted translation and that translation should not be changed. If you do not agree with the translation that has been used, please open a new topic and cite this URL so that we are all informed.

Capitalization
Some general notes on capitalization:
You must translate attending to how the original text is made, but without forgetting the orthographic rules of Spanish. For example, if we see that a text in English is all in lowercase (e.g., “select one user”), it must be translated in lowercase.
However, we must not forget that in English there is a custom of capitalizing the first letter of all words in some important phrases like titles (e.g., “Create New Account”). In Spanish, you should not translate this way: only the first word would be capitalized in the first letter (e.g., “Crear nueva cuenta”).

What we should not translate
We must clarify some concepts for translating from English to Spanish, there are words that should not be translated, some examples:
- “Post”, and its plural “Posts” - see debate
- Date formats, DATE format. I have often seen that they change
%Yto%A(which would be year for year, but it is incorrect, since the format would then cause an error).- “Bootstrap” mode = Modo Bootstrap - Read: What is Bootstrap Mode - if you do not agree with this translation, please open a new debate about it.
You should not translate exclusively technical words (Docker, Crawler, DNS, etc.) or those technical concepts that may be misinterpreted or confusing when translated because they are very little used in Spanish.
Examples: API, Token, Authorization Bearer, Crawler, DNS, SMTP, etc.Nor should you translate variables or paths. Sometimes there will be variables in the translations such as %{username} or {{username}}, and they should not be translated or modified. What can be freely changed is their position within the sentence.
