Unless you’re linking directly to a response, users will always enter a topic at the point they last read to.
If the guide is in the OP and the user has never visited before they will land at the first post.
This is stored and recorded per-user. If your subsequent visits to a topic take you to the replies, that doesn’t mean your users are experiencing the same thing.
