It looks like we’ve allowed TL2 to create tags, versus the default of TL3, which might have been a good idea in the early days, but perhaps now allows too many people that capability.
We have 133 users at TL2. We only have 6 at TL3 and above. That seems too few - evidently our thresholds need adjusting.
But how to know which thresholds specifically are holding back promotion, or causing too much auto-demotion?
Say for our case we wanted about 20 or 30 at TL3. How to see what tuning to do?
You can check the progress of users where you feel they should be TL3 but are not, and adjust the requirements that prevent them from being promoted (Admin page of the user → Permissions → Trust level → Trust Level 3 Requirements).
Those new “cap” values are likely to become new defaults for all sites in the near future, but we are working through how to roll our site setting defaults through “upcoming changes” in a way that ensures admins are informed in advance and have some control over whether and how they are rolled out to their site, so we can methodically update other site settings more easily in the future.
Curious to hear what settings you end up tweaking for your own site.
Thanks for the direct link (I did read the whole thread - interesting evolution). The query ran in 200ms or so, which is almost nothing. The top screenful of results seem to show that in my case, a reduction in topics replied (10) and likes given (30) would be helpful. (We’ve adjusted a couple of TL2 requirements but not TL3 ones, as yet.)
