Disclaimer: We are finally serious about pursuing this project full-time, so we’re mostly looking for an estimate/quote before proceeding any further. We need this information for anybody in the future who’s potentially interested in what we’re doing.
What would you like done?
We’d like to replicate both the UI/UX and feature set of modern Google+ in Discourse as closely as possible (to the point where it’s almost a completely different product) with our own color palette. Depending on how well this goes, we’ll likely want to put our own spin on it (with unique features that aren’t from the modern version of Google+), so it doesn’t have to be a 1:1 copy of the actual thing.
This would be an extremely large project (and an admittedly overambitious one), likely with multiple developers involved who are willing to work together. Further details regarding the management of the project will be ironed out later on, but I’ll likely have to create a long to-do list of things that need to be prioritized and completed during development.
This would also probably require you to do a significant amount of research, but it’d be even better if you had happened to use Google+ in its final years.
When do you need it done?
We don’t have a set deadline yet, but that could change depending on future circumstances, especially when we receive proper funding.
What is your budget, in $ USD that you can offer for this task?
Again, we’re looking for an estimate/quote on how much this would cost before proceeding with anything. We imagine it would involve stripping out most of the front-end and would require a boatload of theme components and plug-ins, so don’t be afraid to tell us how much money this would cost. We appreciate your honesty.
Knowing how ridiculously hard and expensive it is to just implement a WYSIWYG editor into Discourse, I can only imagine this would even cost a whole lot more than that.
Don’t reply to this topic unless you’re seriously interested and willing to give us an estimate/quote as mentioned above. If you’re confused as to why we’re doing this, rest assured that more details will be publicly revealed later on. For now, hold your questions until then.
Thanks in advance!
