Selectable avatars upload broken (Missing required UppyUpload config: id)

When clicking the “edit list” for “selectable avatars” the modal pops up, but there is funnily no option to “upload picture” and the modal is stuck open without the “close” button operating. Am I doing something in the wrong order or is there an update happening?

I don’t think you are doing anything wrong. It is broken for me too.

There is an error in the browser console when you open the modal

@Moin @Josmok please can you confirm what version of Discourse you’re running? This issue should’ve been fixed as a side effect of this change last Tuesday :eyes:

Hmm interesting… that version should have the fix. I’m not seeing the problem locally, or here on Meta.

The error refers to a missing ‘id’ value, which is definitely present in the code now

Is it definitely still broken for you @Moin? If so, then perhaps something went wrong with your most recent update? I’d recommend doing a ./launcher rebuild app to be 100% sure things are in working order.

My mistake - the fix is actually in this commit, which is more recent than your deployed version.

So things should be working again after the next deploy :crossed_fingers:

@Moin @david Thank you both! Though can you please explain the dummy way to ensure my version is most current? I just signed up a few days ago so I thought what I’m using would be updated (this problem just happened for me during my 14-day trial), so need a little help as I’m a rookie and not as tech savvy.

The forums hosted by Discourse regularly receive a new version without you having to do anything. In cases like this, you can also simply contact support directly by e-mail and ask for an update.

If you host the forum yourself instead of paying someone to do so, you have to take care of updates yourself. Usually, that works using the one-click update, but sometimes you need to manually update. That’s what David was talking about when he mentioned ./launcher rebuild app

@Josmok I’ve expedited getting this update onto your hosted site, so things should be working again within the next 10 minutes. Sorry for the disruption!
