Subcategory dropdown missing on category edit page

When are at the page where you can edit a category and use the dropdown at the top to navigate to a subcategory of that category, the dropdown for subcategories does not appear.

In the video, I start at the test-3 category, which is the parent category of test-category. Then I use the dropdown to navigate to the edit page of test-category.

What I see at the end:

What I expect to see (and what I see after reloading the page):

This is a generic issue. Any changes to categories need a full reload to be into effect. Same goes for creating a category and then trying to create a post in it, or to assign a group to it. It would be great if the system would just issue a reload via the MessageBus if only for the user making the edit.

Could you explain which changes you mean? I didn’t edit anything. This problem only occurs if the subcategory I choose is a subcategory of the category I am looking at. If the subcategory has a different parent category, it works fine.

For example, switching from test-3 to Status, a subcategory of Team, works fine.

I’m confused

I see what you mean. It’s even worse. If you choose “back to category” it’s an issue as well.

You are right. :eyes: When I choose “back to category” from the subcategory edit page, the subcategory dropdown is missing too.

This is test-category as the about topic indicates:

yea I can totally repro this - sorry Moin, I hadn’t seen this topic yet. I was like where is the missing subcategory dropdown, and I was just about to post a note about it. thanks for the heads up

This is only when you just created the category no? Regular case is working as far as I can tell:

Not saying we shouldnt fix the create case, but this is lower priority.

I think you need to start at “General”, use the wrench, and then use the dropdown at the top to navigate to “Test”.
Then the subcategory dropdown does not appear and is also missing when you go back

Ah ok I see, I misunderstood the problem (and found another bug :p)

I noticed the bug some time ago, but it became more annoying after I created Related category permissions because then I navigated to the subcategory more frequently.
