We use “Require Approval” Watched Words to catch persistent spam domains.
Spammers are now posting anodyne responses with no triggering words in them and then editing their posts to contain the spam link to a domain that is on our Watched Words list.
Is it intended that Watched Words can be circumvented by post editing?
I now note that this was asked and not answered (as far as I can tell) in the now-closed Watched word Approval doesn't work if a user edits the reply - #38 by physixfan
I’m afraid that is currently the expected behaviour, though a feature request was split off from the topic you linked above to ask for it:
I really appreciate if you can add the feature such that editing can also trigger “require approval” or suspending accounts. There is one troll in our forum who found out that he can bypass the requirement by editing, and is trolling all the time with a new account each time. I don’t think blocking some words can stop him, because he can always know which words are blocked by testing, therefore he can just change a word and then post it.
