Is there a way I could setup so in a category there are these perms?
staff: create / see[all] / reply
everyone: create / see[their own threads only]
Thank you!

In the âCategory Permissions Helpâ discussion, Swedz asked about setting up a category with specific permissions: staff can create, see all, and reply, while everyone else can create and see only their own threads. The intended use case is for Staff Applications, where only a select few can reply to applicants Swedz.
Yuun suggested using PMs to the Staff group instead, which Swedz considered, asking how to send PMs to all staff members at once. Yuun replied that this is possible by entering âstaffâ in the user field, and may require enabling the âwho can message and @mention this groupâ setting in the admin/groups section.

Whatâs the use case? That wouldnât be much of a discussion.
Staff Applications. In which only a select few can reply(to tell them if they are accepted or not).
Can you just have applicants send a PM to the Staff group?

Yeah, you can send PMs to any group as a whole. For staff, just enter in âstaffâ in the user field.
You may need to enable it first (I forget what the staff groupâs default is) by going to admin/groups, selecting the group, and changing the âwho can message and @mention this groupâ setting.
As you can probably guess from the name of the setting, this also allows you to mention the group in regular posts, just like you would for any user (e.g. @Swedz, so you could use @staff).
